I’ve moved! Come check out my latest recipes, reviews, and how-to’s at my new site,
It Was Just Right.
I started this blog as a repository for my recipes, and of course as a tool to share them with my friends and fellow members of the blogosphere.
My philosophy about food has changed quite a bit over the years, and is ever-evolving. Above all, I am interested in making pretty, nutritious, and tasty food from the healthiest ingredients available. My palette of ingredients includes fruits and vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds, natural sweeteners, as well as the occasional serving of dairy, meat, or fish.
I hope you enjoy reading about my cooking adventures! Who knows, maybe you’ll see something that inspires you to get in the kitchen and make yourself a delicious meal.
Happy cooking,
Opera Girl
P.S.
I’ll gladly answer any questions or comments! Feel free to email me at operagirlcooks@gmail.com.
I love your blog! Got a question for you… You call yourself opera girl, why? I love singing! check out my blog at cooksinglive.wordpress.com Keep the recipes coming love them.
Thanks for stopping by!
I call myself Opera Girl because I am a classically trained opera singer. My passions are music and cooking, and I love both with equal measure!
I’m a classical singer who has a food blog too! The world is certainly an interesting place;-)
Your blog is beautiful, Marie! Love your writing.
I will be making apricot-pineapple jam with my mother tomorrow. About nine days ago our tree was loaded with apricots. My husband and I picked them and refrigerated them just before we left on a trip from So. Cal. to Mountain View (!) to visit family. They are now SO ready for canning! I would like to use your recipe; I know it’s preferable to use fresh pineapple but will canned chunk pineapple work?
Sure, it will work! You may find you want to add a squeeze of lemon, since the canned stuff can be less acidic. Taste it once it has cooked down a bit to determine if that’s the case. Have a great time!
I just found your blog and love the photos! I look forward to checking out some of your recipes!
And I’m an opera flutist who is mad about cooking and who has a blog!
Opera and good food have always been linked.
Hi Opera Girl, you have a very interesting blog right here. I like your style and originality – I especially love the fact that the foods here are healthy stuff. You’re going places girl – keep moving!!!
Thanks so much! I checked out your website, and you’ve got some great advice! Thanks for stopping by =)

Hi Opera Girl–
I just discovered your blog and love it! I am also an opera singer (I got my degree in SF too! Now I’m getting my master’s in NC) and love to cook. Just wanted to say thank you for all the excellent recipes! I’m trying out the beef stew tonight!

Hey Lovely Blog….and you are beautiful too….

Thanks for visiting, Sabby! Yes, I do take my own photos 🙂
I just came across Semolina flour and love it. I am a clean eater and was wondering if you consider semolina flour clean. I have been getting mixed answers on this question. I notice that you cook with it and wanted to know your opinion.
You’ll get some conflicting answers on this one, to be sure. Semolina is not a “whole grain,” as it’s ground from the only the endosperm of durum, a variety of wheat. It is, however, high in protein, contains a moderate amount of fiber, and is pretty minimally processed as foods go. I like to combine it with whole wheat flour in my recipes.
haha, i’m a retired classic violinist ,
i do love a foodie musician !
Aww, thanks, Sufei!
What a gorgeous blog you have! Much enjoying your multitude of wonderful food posts. Subscribed.

Thanks so much for sharing your delicious, healthy, and easy-to-follow recipes.
